Celebration of Life, Love, & Miracles

Blog 156 – June 5, 2009 Temperatures in the upper 80’s, sunny and hot, nice shower late in the evening.
Grated carrot, flour, brown sugar, canola oil, eggs, cinnamon, vanilla, all ingredients to complete the birthday cake of choice for my sweet goddaughter. As I sifted the flour into the bowl, I am reminded of past birthdays celebrated. This one however, is special because we will be sharing it with Mike – Erin’s father. Years have separated us all in miles and his surprise visit has made her birthday special for everyone. Now, a few days later, we are having an encore celebration with lunch at our home. Now pouring the spicy batter into the pan for baking I am grateful – for family and friends who gather in celebration of life and love and recognition of all the miracles bestowed on us.

  1. Cynthia I totally agree with you regarding the inferred value of family. As we journey through this circle of life, and the matriarchs and patriarchs transition to eternal life, we evolve into their places. My family is quite large, and I am very family oriented but there are barriers between me and too many of those who are following behind me. They are not getting the benefit of having older relatives, like we did when we were their age. The thing I focus on is a word from Psalms 119:105..."My word is a lamp to your feet and a light for your path..." It helps me to be content and plant where I am at the moment.
