Favorable Forecast

Blog 136 – Saturday, May 16, 2009 Sunny and hot – temperatures in the upper 80’s. A soaking rainstorm which lasted hours – late in the evening.
Traveling down U.S. 19, windshield wipers intermittently erasing the steady drizzle of rain from the glass, our conversation turns to hopes of a soon-appearing rainy season. Florida’s current state has been that of a three-year deficit in our water table, creating an alarming effort to conserve water. Turning into our rain-slick driveway, we begin to assess the moisture content of our yard. By now we are happily chattering about the positive effects this shower will have on our landscape and recent "weed and feed" application. Pushing the button on the garage door, we enter through the laundry room, hurrying to the den to turn on the weather forecast and are encouraged – rain is forecast ALL week! Now, I must retrieve my rain boots from the top shelf of the closet.
