Blog 174 – Tuesday, June 23, 2009 Big storm today! 8/10 inch accumulation – brief relief from parching heat.
As rain pours over the edge of the roof overhang just outside the bay windows in the den, the azaleas bounce and shake as liquid relief coats their shiny green leaves. The street fills and runs to the drain just south of our property, rain rushing along the gutters like a miniature raging river. Thunder crashes and lightning fills the sky with its bright, white light - sights and sounds that have not made an appearance for weeks. Now day three of summer and our rain gauge is filling with evidence of a summer moisture pattern. Kitties cozied up on the bed and me sitting back in my chair, iced tea in hand, Roger and I watch as the much needed, prayed-for rain falls around our home.
