Blog 192 – Saturday, July 11, 2009 Warm and sunny with afternoon showers, temperatures nearing 90.
Having changed their name from Devil Rays to the Tampa Bay Rays, our Tampa Bay team has been a formidable opponent for nearly two years now. Last year they won the pennant and went on to the World Series, a success that I believe was related to taking the “devil” out of their identity. Tonight, a special “retro” celebration resulted in the team wearing their old uniforms – complete with the Devil emblazoned across the shirts. The Oakland team they had played and beaten handily on Friday scored repeatedly on them until tonight’s game ended in a loss. I am sad and am reminded that: Ephesians 4:27 says: “Neither give any place to the devil.”
